When I first started my business, I had a pretty simple goal: make $10,000. I was a stay-at-home dad at the time, and that was a life-changing amount of money for me.
To make a long story short – I hit that goal. It wasn’t easy, and it took a lot of hard work… but I hit it.
And once I proved to myself that I could do it, then I had this new and interesting challenge. I had to figure out a new goal for myself.
So I set my sights on making $100,000 in a year… another target that seemed ridiculously high. And a few years later I hit it. I don’t say any of this to brag… it took a LOT of late nights and grinding to get there.
And then I met this man at a seminar, and his business was doing $100,000 too… but he was making that much PER MONTH.
I was completely flabbergasted. That’s about $1.2 million per year.
The thought had never even occurred to me… that a business like mine could do over a million dollars per year.
But in that moment, my brain changed. It was like an “idea virus” – once you have the thought, your mind is officially expanded – and your thinking is forever altered.
And crazy enough, within just a few years I had my own million-dollar business… something that I hadn’t imagined possible – until I met someone who was doing it.
That’s the interesting thing about setting and achieving goals… it all starts with knowing what you’re going for is actually possible. And often that starts just by seeing someone do the thing you’re trying to do.
Now I know a lot of folks might think I’m talking only about business… but I think of it as building a truly rich life. One with freedom and purpose, where money’s not the thing holding you back from achieving big things.
But before you can see these results, you just might have to think differently about business and money. Because building a truly rich life means not just making money, but also learning how to keep it.
That’s something Dr. Patrick Gentempo and Jeff Hays know a lot about. They’re the masterminds behind a new film series called “Money Revealed”.
I helped them with improving their launches, and eventually they invited me to be one of their featured experts. 🙂
It’s a fascinating series, and you can watch it all for free when you sign up here:
The docuseries features interviews with more than 30 self-made millionaires and billionaires, and what they learned about building a business and a rich life.
In mine, I talk about not really “fitting in” with corporate jobs, and how that led to me accidentally discovering this whole launch process (and creating an entire industry).
There’s some really cool stuff in this series and I have no doubt that if you watch it, you will walk away with some awesome new ideas about what’s possible.
